23rd ASEAN-China Senior Officials’ Consultation

(VOVWORLD) -The 23rd ASEAN-China Senior Officials’ Consultation opened on Friday following their meeting on the Implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC).

Delegates reviewed cooperation in political, security, economic, cultural and social areas and future plans. They agreed on China-ASEAN’s targeting a two-way trade turnover of   1 trillion USD and investment by 150 billion USD by 2020. China is committed to elevate its strategic partnership with ASEAN by synergizing ASEAN region with China’s Belt and Road Initiative to deepen connectivity and production capacity. The ASEAN-China senior officials have completed the draft framework for the Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC). It will be submitted during the China-ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Conference this August. Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung, Head of Vietnam SOM delegation delivered a speech about regional integration and connectivity with East Asia’s potential.
