47th SEAMEC to focus on regional cooperation

(VOVworld) - More than 300 deputies from Southeast Asia will gather in Hanoi next Tuesday for a conference of the region’s education ministers.

At a press briefing on Friday, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Manh Hung said this is the second time Vietnam has hosted such an event. The participants will discuss initiatives and policies and outline directions to implement the projects of Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization, SEAMEO. Mr. Hung said: "The conference aims to boost regional cooperation in education, one of top priorities in many countries in the world including Southeast Asia. SEAMEO’s resolutions will help the organization and member nations deal withissues relating to reform and development of the education and training sector to meet the increasing demands on human resource development for the labor market.’ Also high on the agenda are issues to develop a learning society in Southeast Asian countries and joint efforts toward an ASEAN community by 2015.
