(VOVworld) – The 4^th Vietnam-Republic of Korea Deputy Foreign Minister-level strategic diplomatic, security, and national defense dialogue opened in Seoul on Tuesday.

The Vietnamese delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Ho Xuan Son and the Korean delegation by 1^st Deputy Foreign Minister Cho Tae Yong. The two sides agreed to maintain high level exchanges and increase practical cooperation in security, national defense, citizen protection, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. They also agreed to foster cooperation at regional and global forums, particularly the UN, APEC, ARF, ASEAN+1, ASEAN+3, and the East Asia Summit. Concerning the East Sea, they stressed the importance of maintaining peace, stability, navigation and aviation safety and freedom and settling maritime disputes with peaceful measures with all parties respecting the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea.

The Korean officials presented their country’s stance on the the situation on the Korean peninsula and inter-Korean relations. The Vietnamese delegation reiterated Vietnam’s consistent policy of supporting peace, stability, and the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.
