(VOVWORLD) -The 6,000th child with heart disease has just received free surgery under a program funded by the VinaCapital Foundation, said the foundation’s CEO Robin King Austin on Tuesday.

The child is 5-year-old Truong Thi My Yen from Kien Giang province. Yen was born with heart disease, but her family couldn’t afford surgery. The Heart Beat Vietnam helped Yen with two operations worth a total of 10,600 USD. Now, she has a healthy heart and can join her friends at school.
Over the past 11 years, the program has helped 6,000 disadvantaged children, Ms. Austin said, attributing the achievement to the efforts and donations of the foundation’s partners across Vietnam.
