Projects on salary reform and social insurance reform were debated. Politburo member and Standing Member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong facilitated the meeting. 

Regarding the project on social insurance reform, delegates discussed ways to realize targets set out in the project. Minister of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung said: "It's important to focus on economic growth and the Party resolution on the private sector development. While developing social insurance, it's necessary to focus on the private sector as there are now more than 15 million individual businesses. " 

The 7th plenary meeting of the Party Central Committee (12th tenure) is taking place in Hanoi from May 7-12.  

Main issues on the agenda include the personnel work at all levels, especially at strategic level, salary reform for officials, public servants, the armed forces, and workers, and social insurance policy reform, among others.

The event attracts great attention of the public with high expectation that the meeting will reach breakthrough decisions in matters of public interest
