On the 16th anniversary of the attacks, Trump observed a moment of silence at the Pentagon at 8:46 am, the time when American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon’s west side.

President Trump said: “American forces are pursuing and destroying the enemies of all civilized people. These are horrible enemies, enemies like we’ve never seen before. We’re ensuring that they never again have a safe haven to launch attacks against our country. We’re making plain to these savage killers that there is no dark corner beyond our reach, no sanctuary beyond our grasp, and nowhere to hide on this very large earth”.

Also on Monday, US Vice President Mike Pence delivered remarks in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where the hijacked United Airlines Flight 93 crashed into the ground.

In New York, thousands of people, including families of victims, survivors, and first responders, went to Ground 0, where the Twin Towers collapsed, to pay tribute to the victims and honor the rescuers who lost their lives.
