Activities towards the 60th anniversary of Hanoi’s liberation

(VOVworld) – A book fair entitled “Hanoi, the city for peace” opened at the Thang Long Heritage Preservation Center in Hanoi on Friday. Over 10,000 books featuring various themes were introduced.

Pham Quoc Tuan, Head of a book project about Thang Long-Hanoi’s 1000-year history, said: “We have studied and compiled books about the development of Thang Long civilization in 1,000 year covering its history, socio-economics, literature, and art. The books will serve young people to understand more about Hanoi and inspire their pride of and sense of responsibility in building the capital city.”
The 1st Capital Theater Festival commenced at the Workers’ Theater in Hanoi on Friday. The plays reflect the images of Hanoians in the war time and in building a modern and civilized capital city at present. Tran Quoc Chiem, Deputy Director of Hanoi’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, said: “This is a good opportunity for artists to show their talent and learn from others’ professional experience. We hope during the festival many plays and artists will be honored and promoted. The festival will be held annually.”

Hanoi’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism opened a photo exhibition at the Memorial House at 48 Hang Ngang street. 60 photos on display featured 60 historical sites in Hanoi during the resistance war against the French colonialists from 1946 to 1954.
