Afghan president announces conditional ceasefire with Taliban
(VOVWORLD) - Afghanistan’s president, Ashraf Ghani, on Sunday announced a ceasefire with Taliban insurgents starting Monday to mark the Eid al-Adha holiday, despite heavy fighting in recent days in the city of Ghazni.

He said the truce will continue as long as the Taliban preserves and respects it.
This year’s Eid al-Adha, an annual 3-day Muslim holiday, will start on Tuesday.
