American servicemen’s remains returned to the US

(VOVWORLD) -The remains of 4 American soldiers missing during the war in Vietnam were returned to the US on Wednesday.

Attending the ceremony at Noi Bai International Airport were US Vice Ambassador to Vietnam Caryn McClelland and representatives from the Vietnamese Office For Seeking Missing Persons (VNOSMP) and the US Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency.

The remains were found during the 129th joint search between October and December. They have been transported to Hawaii for further forensic examinations.

The governments of Vietnam and the US have co-organized humanitarian activities to search for MIA soldiers. This has been the 142nd repatriation of MIA remains since 1973.
