Ancient Tet celebrations revived in Old Quarter

(VOVworld)-Hanoi’s Old Quarter is hosting a program revitalizing celebrations of Tet or the Lunar New Year Festival in the ancient past. The program includes a display of folk paintings of Vietnam’s 3 prominent forms: Hang Trong, Kim Hoang, and Dong Ho, the Tet space in an old Hanoi family, and calligraphy demonstrations.

“I hope this program will help improve public awareness of Vietnam’s traditions. People, particulalrly the younger generation will have the opportunity to understand the lifestyle of residents in the Red River Delta in the past”, Vice Director of the Old Quarter Management Board Tran Thuy Lan elaborated.

“I’m so moved to revisit the past Tet celebrations. All the items on display, from the paintings to the long chairs are very rare”, Tran Van Man, an Old Quarter resident shared his feelings.

The program will run until February 12.
