APEC 2017 earns Vietnam global attention: President
(VOVWORLD) -The successful APEC Year 2017 has transformed Vietnam into a focus of global attention and created a new milestone in the country’s international integration, President Tran Dai Quang said in Hanoi on Monday to review Vietnam’s biggest diplomatic event of the year.
The President described the success of APEC 2017 as a remarkable external achievement of Vietnam, contributing to increasing the role of APEC as a leading regional economic cooperation mechanism. At Vietnam’s initiative, leaders of APEC member economies held talks with ASEAN leaders for the first time to help build a sustainable, transparent and highly adaptive regional economic architecture. More than 240 events took place in Vietnam during APEC Year 2017, drawing 21,000 delegates. For the first time, APEC leaders agreed to promote inclusive development in economics, finance, and social affairs. Member economies highly appreciated the role of Vietnam in leading and creating a new momentum for the shared regional future of peace, stability and prosperity as well as affirming the role of APEC in global economic administration.
