Head of the Vietnamese delegation, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung, actively participated in the event. He reiterated Vietnam’s constant view to settling disputes in the East Sea by peaceful means based on international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. He asked relating countries to practice restraints and promote trust building and preventive activities at sea. Vietnam and EU and Australian partners will chair a mid-term meeting on maritime security in 2018 - 2020. Vietnam will chair meetings on law enforcement at sea and peace keeping this year.
