Asia Pacific leaders urge against protectionism

(VOVworld)- Leaders of 21 Asia-Pacific nations ended their annual summit on Sunday in Lima, Peru with a call to resist protectionism. In a joint statement, the APEC leaders reaffirm their commitment to keep markets open and to fight against all forms of protectionism.

They pledged to be against protectionism and measures that would affect free trade, weaken trade and obstruct the recovery and development of the world economy. They promised to avoid devaluate their local currencies to increase competitiveness in global trade.
