ASIAD Games kicks off in Indonesia

(VOVWORLD) - The 18th Asian Games will begin on Saturday with a grand-scale opening ceremony taking place at Jakarta's Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.

The 3-hour opening ceremony will start at 7 p.m involving 4,000 dancers, 18 singers, and hundred Indonesian musicians. 

The multi-sport event scheduled to be held from August 18 to September 2 draws 11,000 athletes from 45 countries and territories competing in 40 sports. The Vietnamese delegation consists of 352 athletes whose aim is to snatch at least three gold medals. Fencing star Vu Thanh An will carry the Vietnamese flag at the opening ceremony. 
Earlier on Friday, South Korea suffered a 1-2 loss to Malaysia in the men's football competition at the 18th Asian Games in Indonesia. Malaysia reached first place in Group E to meet Vietnam or Japan in the next round.
