ASOSAI 14th Assembly closes with endorsement of Hanoi Declaration

(VOVWORLD) - The 14th Assembly of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI 14) closed in Hanoi on Saturday after 4 days of meeting.

Before opening the second plenary session, taking place at the Hanoi-based National Convention Centre on Saturday, delegates gave a minute’s silence to remember Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang, who passed away on Friday in Hanoi. At this session, delegates approved the Hanoi Declaration. Deputy Auditor General of Vietnam, Doan Xuan Tien, said the Hanoi Declaration will promote knowledge sharing within ASOSAI while improving members’ capacity in environmental auditing for sustainable development.

 “The declaration reflects the Assembly’s key messages and initiatives as well as ASOSAI community efforts and contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals in addressing global environmental challenges following our discussion results”, said Mr. Tien.

“We come to the close of a successful Assembly and open a new chapter for the ASOSAI community with more opportunities, challenges and prospects. Vietnam will do its utmost to join efforts with ASOSAI members and new executive committees to realize strategies, programs and plans efficiently and creatively. We urged ASOSAI members to uphold fine values and continue sharing experience and initiatives to ensure continuous growth, overcome challenges and uphold ASOSAI values and visions in Asia and the world”, said ASOSAI Chairman of the 2018-2021 term, Auditor General of the State Audit Office of Vietnam Ho Duc Phoc at the closing ceremony.
