During separate meetings with visiting Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue on Tuesday, Australian counterpart Banarby Joyce and Trade Minister Steven Ciobo said that Australia will create favorable conditions for Vietnamese fruit and fresh shrimp to penetrate the local market. They pledged Official Development Assistance to help Vietnam in climate change response, human resource development, and gender equality. Both sides stressed the importance of maintaining peace, stability, security, and freedom of navigation and overflight in the region. They advocated settling disputes by peaceful means on the basis of international law, respecting diplomatic and legal process, refraining from unilateral acts that may fuel tensions, and implementing the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) toward achieving a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).
