Australia, Vietnam boost defense cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam and Australia need to maintain and develop their defense cooperation, said Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.

Giang, who is also Deputy Minister of National Defense, told a visiting delegation led by Raymond Griggs, Vice Chief of Australia’s Defense Force, in Hanoi on Thursday that bilateral defense cooperation has reaped positive outcomes, including effective implementation of a 2010 Memorandum of Understanding. He said Vietnam always attaches great importance to comprehensive cooperation with Australia and said he hopes the two sides will increase delegation exchanges and explore new cooperation spheres. 

The Australia defense delegation is visiting Vietnam from Wednesday to Sunday.
