Australia’s Gold Coast enhances cooperation with HCMC

(VOVWORLD) - Pham Duc Hai, Vice Chairman of the People’s Council of Ho Chi Minh City and Tom Tate, Mayor of the city of Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, discussed ways to step up cooperation between the two localities at a meeting in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday.

Hai said that in the spirit of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Australia, Ho Chi Minh City wants to boost its cooperation with Australian localities. He said HCMC is eager to work with Gold Coast in tourism development and other fields.

Hai pledged to create optimal conditions for Gold Coast businesses that want to come and do long-term business in HCMC.

Mayor Tate said Gold Coast wants closer cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City in tourism, education, waste treatment, and energy.

He said Gold Coast has been successful in flood prevention and recovery and is willing to share its experience in climate change response, managing urban transportation systems, and planning urban infrastructure.
