(VOVworld) - A solemn ceremony was held in the Hoang Hoa Tham relic site in the northern province of Bac Giang on Sunday to mark the 130^th anniversary of the Yen The uprising. Addressing the event, National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong described the uprising as the largest waged by Vietnamese peasants. Initially led by Luong Van Nam, and then Hoang Hoa Tham, over 30 years, the uprising manifested the Vietnamese people’s solidarity and patriotism in fighting against the French colonialists.

The Yen The festival with its many cultural activities demonstrates the Vietnamese tradition of remembering the source of the water one drinks and honors the Vietnamese people’s patriotism and indomitable will. It also features a traditional dress show, martial arts performances, and folk games.
