(VOVworld) - The Basque separatist group ETA on Saturday gave up weapons to French authorities according to its previous disarmament declaration.

This is considered a definitive end to its decades-long fight for Basque’s independence. French Interior Minister Matthias Fekl said at a press conference in Paris that this is a great step towards normalizing the relationship between the South-West of France and neighboring country Spain. He added that the ETA handed over 12 caches of weapons located in France.
