(VOVworld)- The Better Work Vietnam program in the apparel industry was launched in Hanoi on Wednesday, expanding its scope to the north and into Vietnam’s footwear sector. Jointly organised by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the program aims to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of export enterprises in order to generate more jobs. Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Pham Minh Huan addressed the launch ceremony:“Enterprises, non-governmental organizations and international organizations in Vietnam have put in place a range of initiatives to improve working conditions and ensure stable jobs for workers. The Better Work Program has proved its independence, expertise and prestige to its partners. The program aims at ensuring stable jobs for laborers and sustainable growth for businesses”.

Since 2009, the Better Work Program has been implemented in Ho Chi Minh City and a number of southern provinces. The program helped more than 200 apparel enterprises and over 250,000 workers.
