Speaking to the parliament after his return from Tripoli, Mr. Philip Hammond said there was no appetite in Libya for foreign combat troops on the ground. He said Britain has not received any requests from Libya’s UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) for ground combat forces to fight the Islamic State or any other armed groups and Britain has no plans to deploy troops in such a role.

During his visit this week, Hammond offered the GNA 10 million pounds in aids and said Britain is ready to offer further technical assistance to Libya.
