British PM confident about Brexit deal

(VOVWORLD) - Britain’s Prime Minister Theresa May on Monday addressed the House of Commons with an update on the latest developments in the Brexit negotiations.

She said she believes an agreement remains "reachable" amid deadlocked talks with the EU over the issue of the Irish border. She urged both sides not to allow their differences to lead to a no-deal. She said both sides have made good progress on the terms of Brexit as well as draft plans on future trade relations.

PM May said the EU has agreed to consider her “backstop” plan, which would keep Britain in a customs union with Brussels until a permanent trade deal can be agreed.
