Titled “Vietnam–Cambodia economic relations on solid footing,” the article was published on the occasion of the State visit to Cambodia by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President Nguyen Phu Trong from Monday to Tuesday.  It said in 2018, bilateral trade turnover reached nearly 4.7 billion USD, a rise of 23 percent compared with the same period in the previous year. The figure is expected to hit 5 billion USD next year.

Vietnam has about 210 investment projects in Cambodia, mostly in agriculture and forestry with a total registered investment capital of about 3 billion USD, putting the country in the top ten foreign direct investment providers in Cambodia, the Khmer Times reported. Investment and business activities of Vietnamese enterprises in Cambodia are appreciated by Prime Minister Hun Sen and Cambodian leaders, contributing positively to Cambodia’s social welfare and prosperity.

The prospects are great for the development of bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, agriculture and education, the article said, adding that economic relations will continue to be a driving force to create a solid foundation for relations between the two countries.
