(VOVworld) – The Vietnam National Committee on Ageing convened a meeting in Hanoi on Tuesday. According to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, 2.8 million elderly people in Vietnam are receiving pensions and social insurance. 2015 was the first year that a month of action for the elderly had been held in Vietnam.

In his address, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam asked the Vietnam Social Insurance Agency to coordinate with the Vietnam National Committee on Ageing in communicating Party politburo resolution on increasing the Party’s leadership in social insurance and a project on medical insurance for everyone, including the elderly for the 2012-2020 period.
