(VOVworld) – The Cai Bi International Aiport was inaugurated in Hai Phong city on Thursday. Attending the event, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said the airport is important to not just Hai Phong but Red river delta and northern coastal provinces.

He said the airport will help reduce overloading at Noi Bai International Airport: “Services, tourism, investment, and infrastructure should be prioritized to make the most of the airport. The Ministry of Transport, the Vietnam Aviation Corporation, and other relevant agencies should ensure absolute aviation security and proper maintenance. Airlines should consider increasing flights to Cat Bi airport.”

Cat Bi airport is able to receive large modern planes such as the Boeing 747 and 777. 
Construction of 2 quays at Hai Phong International Port began the same day. Prime Minister Phuc said the upgraded Hai Phong port will boost development in the city and the northern region. Once completed the port will be the northern region’s first deepwater port, capable of receiving container ships of approximately 100,000 tons.
