Celebrations of National Reunification Day continue

(VOVworld) – Quang Tri province and the Vietnam Architects’ Association on Tuesday held a flag hoisting ceremony at the historical relic site of Ben Hai wharf and Hien Luong bridge. The ceremony was to celebrate 38 years of the liberation of southern Vietnam and national reunification. During the resistance war against US imperialists, the national flag at Parallel 17 symbolized the pride, faith, strong will, and strength of the Vietnamese nation. War veteran Tran Dinh Hung from Hanoi visited his former battlefield and was moved to attend the flag-hoisting ceremony: “This area, which used to be deserted, has become a green field. I’m very happy to see the changes here. This place reminds me of my comrades in arms who already passed away and my friends who have lived and worked here.”

The same day, Khanh Hoa province in the central region inaugurated the Goddes Po Nagar festival, which is a local cultural and religious event to honor and worship Goddess Ana, who is believed to be Mother of the south central region. Tens of thousands of people from adjacent areas have flocked to Nha Trang city to attend the festival, which includes a requiem, the release of flower lanterns, a ceremony to pray for peace for the nation, and an incense burning ceremony to pay tribute to the Mother Goddess.
