Chinese press highlights Vietnamese Party chief’s visit

(VOVworld) - China wants to build good and stable relations with Vietnam and values the upcoming visit to China by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang said at a regular press briefing on Monday.

The visit is at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and State President Xi Jinping. During the visit, scheduled to take place from Thursday to Sunday, Chinese leaders and senior party officials will hold separate meetings with the Vietnamese Party chief to discuss bilateral relations and issues of mutual concern. Spokesperson Lu Kang affirmed that China is willing to work with Vietnam to promote the bilateral traditional friendship, share strategic views, build mutual political trust, deepen practical cooperation, and foster the sustainable, sound, and stable development of bilateral relations.

The same day, the Global Times, a daily newspaper controlled by the People’s Daily – the official organ of the Chinese Communist Party - ran an editorial commenting that the Vietnamese Party chief’s visit to China will reinforce the friendship between the two countries. The relationship between the Chinese and Vietnamese Communist Parties is a special pillar of China-Vietnam relations, which boosts the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.
