Construction starts on Vietnam's largest solar power plant

(VOVWORLD) - Construction of a solar power plant, the biggest of its kind in Vietnam, got underway in the south-central coastal province of Ninh Thuan on Saturday.

"Ninh Thuan province has made full use of its geographical conditions to develop solar and wind energies with huge potential for economic development. I believe Ninh Thuan province will become a center for renewable energies in Vietnam in the near future.", said National Assembly Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien in his address at the groundbreaking ceremony:

According to the investor - Trung Nam Solar Power JSC, a member of Trung Nam Group, the 204 MW plant will cover around 300 hectares of the Trung Nam wind farm in Bac Phong and Loi Hai communes, Thuan Bac district. With a total investment of nearly VND5 trillion, the plant is scheduled to be completed in June 2019. It is expected to produce between 401 and 450 million kWh of electricity per year, boosting the supplying of electricity for NinhThuan province in particular and for the country in general.
