Countries attended Non-proliferation conference support Iran nuclear deal

(VOVWORLD) -Vladimir Yermakov, Director General of the Department for Non-Proliferation and Arms Control at Russia's Foreign Ministry, told reporters on Saturday that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) known commonly known as the Iran deal or Iran nuclear deal has received broad backing at a UN non-proliferation conference in Geneva, except for the US and some other members of the NATO.

Yermakov said that Russia would continue to uphold its obligations under the deal, if it was able to and if continuing adherence to the JCPOA was in Russia's interests. Keeping the deal alive was in the best interests of international security. Yermakov added that Russia will support Iranian nuclear deal and boots its cooperation with the Tehran in all areas including energy, transport, high tech, and medicine even when the US decided to withdraw from the JCPOA. Yermakov warned that if the United States broke an international agreement backed by UN Security Council resolutions, it would be the United States that should suffer the consequences.
