Criminal Procedure Code revised to better protect citizens’ rights - ảnh 1
(VOVworld) - National Assembly deputies on Friday discussed amendments to the Criminal Procedural Code. Deputy Bach Thi Huong Thuy from Hoa Binh province says the revision is necessary to better protect human and citizen rights: “I appreciate the amendment to permit the accused access to case file. The 2013 Constitution enabled the accused rights to self defense or request for defense lawyer. They should be aware of case file and evidence brought up by investigating and prosecuting agencies for self defense. Shortening of detention time is also needed to comply with the new Constitution and bettering protecting human rights and citizens' rights.”

Deputies agreed on the need to take audio and video records of interrogation sessions, especially in major cases.
