(VOVworld) – Cuban Minister of Health Roberto Morales said Saturday Cuban doctors and nurses have completed their international mission of supporting three western African countries to fight Ebola, and will return home in the next couple of days. Cuba is the first country to respond to UN’s appeal to send doctors and nurses to Africa to support the local under-developed heath sectors to stop the Ebola epidemic there.

Cuba has sent a total of 165 doctors and nurses to Sierra Leone, 53 to Liberia, and 38 to Guinea, the three countries worst hit by Ebola with 10,000 recorded death cases. The Cuban mission has provided treatment to 2000 Ebola patients and saved 400 lives.
