Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Ngoc Tuan said: “The title will help Da Nang connect and encourage parties involved like the municipal government, organizations, enterprises, and community to take stronger and more regular action to develop Da Nang an environmentally conscious city.”

Doctor Van Ngoc Thinh, Director of the World Wide Fund for Nature in Vietnam, said the WWF’s One Planet City Challenge aims to call on metropolises worldwide to take action to build an environmentally friendly globe in the future while doing the utmost to respond to climate change.

Thinh said: “We are proud to tell the world about one of our green cities of Vietnam. We pledge to work with the municipal Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the community to call on international support for Da Nang’s sustainable socio-economic development.”

This is the second time Vietnam has participated in the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)’s One Planet City Challenge program. In 2016, the WWF recognised Hue city as Vietnam’s National Earth Hour Capital.
