Dak Lak province hosts Viet Bac cultural festival

(VOVworld) The 3rd Viet Bac (Northern) cultural festival opened in Ea Tam commune in the central highlands province of Dak Lak yesterday. 82% of the people in the commune belong to Tay, Nung, Dao, Thai or H Mong ethnic minority groups, who migrated here from the northern mountainous region. Quach Thanh,Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Krnong Nang district said: "The festival has been held annually for several years to promote the cultural identity of ethnic minority groups in the northern region. We want to preserve the cultural values of northern ethnic minority people through this festival". The festival has revived ritual ceremonies such as the Bumper Crop and the “Going to the Field” festivals. Visitors can enjoy local food specialties such as rice wine and grilled chicken.
