(VOVworld) – Speeding up the construction of the Lai Chau Hydropower Plant, the relocation of people to resettlement areas, and the improvement of their lives topped the agenda of Wednesday’s meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai and the steering committee of the Son La and Lai Chau Hydropower Plant.

Mr. Hai praised the contributions of locals relocating from the site of the construction work, and of investors, consultants and agencies to ensure the project’s success. The relocation of 800 households for the Lai Chau Hydropower Plant is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.

Mr. Hai urged Son La, Lai Chau, and Dien Bien province and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to work together to implement a program of socio-economic stabilization and development for the residents displaced by the Son La Hydropower Plant.
