Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc made the statement at a Wednesday reception in Hanoi for visiting Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Neville Rolfe.

Mr. Phuc said the Vietnam-European Union Free Trade Agreement will boost economic links between the two sides and particularly with the UK.

The two leaders said they hope Vietnam and the UK will enhance intellectual property rights protection and joint projects between their universities and research centres.

Earlier, Ms. Rolfe and leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology signed a memorandum of understanding on the Newton Programme Vietnam to expand research cooperation.
