At a meeting in Bratislava on Wednesday with Slovakian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Robert Kalinak, Mr. Hue said Slovakia is Vietnam’s largest trade partner in Central and Eastern Europe and Vietnam is Slovakia’s 14th biggest trade partner.

The leaders agreed to devise cooperation mechanisms and action plans, organize trade promotion activities, connect businesses and localities of the two countries, and help enterprises invest in each other’s markets.

They also agreed to push for the signing of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement.

The same day, Mr. Hue visited the Trnava region, where he talked about possibilities for bilateral cooperation in heavy industry, chemicals, electricity, electronics, auto manufacturing, wood processing, and high-tech.

Chairman of the region Tibor Mikus said Trnava plans to step up investment and trade activities in Vietnam and encourage Vietnamese enterprises to invest in the region.

In Horne Saliby town of Trnava, Deputy Prime Minister Hue and the local authorities dedicated a plaque in memory of President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to the town on September 18, 1957.
