(VOVworld) - Vietnam should be ready to negotiate a free trade agreement with the US, according to speakers at a recent seminar on the effects of the Trump administration’s Asia-Pacific policies. 

At the seminar at Harvard University last weekend, Professor David Dapice of Harvard advised Vietnam to improve its industrial capacity and competitiveness.

Participants delivered speeches on alternatives to the TPP, the new US policy on trade with Vietnam, the US’s alliances in Asia-Pacific in the new era, the Trump administration’s East Sea policy, and security partners in Asia-Pacific.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Pham Quang Vinh said he hopes Vietnam-US relations will be reinforced despite the Trump administration resetting its foreign policy priorities.
