(VOVworld) – All passengers on board the hijacked A320 Egypt Air plane have been freed and transported to Cairo safely. EgyptAir said the Airbus A320 was carrying 81 passengers and crew members from Alexandria to Cairo.

When the rescue operation ended, experts said the hijacker’s suicide belt was fake. Egypt’s Foreign Ministry said the hijacker, identified as Seif Eldin Mustafa, had mental problems and it was not a terror attack.

In another development, Russia said some flights from and to Egypt will be resumed, but it depends on Egypt’s improvement of aviation security. Russia’s suggestion to send security experts to Egyptian airports has been rejected in Cairo as it would violate Egypt’s sovereignty.
