Egypt tries to promote Middle East peace process

(VOVWORLD) - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi held separated meetings with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Banjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meetings in New York.

They discussed the Middle East peace process and reconciliation between the two main Palestinian political factions, Hamas and Fatah.

President Sisi stressed the importance of resuming negotiations between Israel and Palestine to reach a comprehensive solution. President Abbas expressed his belief in reconciling the Palestinian factions. President Sisi said Palestine is always a top priority of Egypt’s diplomatic policy, adding that Cairo will support Palestine in reconciling the rival factions in Gaza and the West Bank.
