EU calls for investigation of Facebook
(VOVWORLD) - Facebook is facing worldwide criticism over claims that Cambridge Analytica, a UK data analysis firm hired by Donald Trump's 2016 campaign, harvested and misused data on 50 million Facebook users.

The European Parliament's Brexit coordinator Guy Verhofstadt called for an investigation on Tuesday. EU Justice Commissioner Vera Jourova will seek clarification from the social media giant during a visit to the US this week. EU digital commissioner Mariya Gabriel told a press conference on Tuesday that EU leaders are following this case closely and that the protection of personal data is a core value of the EU.
