EU gives 108 million euros for Vietnam’s energy

(VOVWORLD) - The Europe Union has provided an official development aid worth 108 million euros to enhance access to sustainable energy in rural, mountainous, sea and islands areas in Vietnam.

It also helps contribute to a more sustainable energy sector through promoting efficient, clean and renewable energy. At a policy dialogue on this program between the European Union delegations and the Ministry of Industry and Trade on Friday, Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh, said Vietnamese government committed to reducing the greenhouse emission by 8 percent by 2030 and may decrease to 25 percent if it is supported by international bilateral and multilateral cooperative organizations. He added Vietnam is facing considerable energy challenges to maintain its socio-economic development, thus the financial support from the EU and other partners can help Vietnam access to a clean and sustainable energy sector.
