European-Vietnamese Documentary Festival opens

(VOVWORLD) - 31 documentary films of 10 European countries and Vietnam are being screened during the 8th European-Vietnamese Documentary Festival which opened in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on Friday night and run through next Sunday.

The annual event aims to introduce the best contemporary documentary movies covering cultural, social, economic, and environmental issues.

People’s Artist, Acting Director of the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio Nguyen Nhu Vu said: “Through every festival, the audiences are able to watch documentaries featuring the lively reality of each European nation and Vietnam. The main purpose of the festival is to increase cultural exchange, the best way to introduce the culture, people, environment, and society of a country.”

This year’s festival opened with the screening of the Vietnamese film named ‘Sa Huynh Relic’ and a French film named ‘Once upon a forest’. ‘Sa Huynh Relic’, was awarded Golden Kite Award 2015 and ‘Once upon a forest’ received a César Award nomination for Best Documentary in 2014.

All the selected films will be shown free of charge.
