Farm work resumed after Tet

(VOVworld) Farmers in various localities around Vietnam have resumed agricultural production as the Tet atmosphere begins to wane. Rice growers in the Mekong Delta province of Long An are hoping for another successful year after 2 consecutive bumper crops. On Thursday morning, farmers in the central province of Nghe An went to the fields to transplant rice seedlings with support from local authorities. Nguyen Van Lap, Director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said: “As a local tradition, the 4th day of the new lunar year is the best time for cultivation. Because of cold weather, we’ll provide money for farmer to build plastic greenhouses.”

The same day, many fishermen in the southern region set sail for offshore fishing. Fisherman Tran Van Thoi said that the southwestern sea area is often calm after Tet, providing an ideal fishing ground: “We’re very exited to have enjoyed a happy Tet. As fishing activities have been paused over the past few days, we’re confident in a big catch this time.”
