Arkady Dvorkovich served as Deputy Prime Minister of Russia from 2008-2012 and became President of the FIDE in 2018. Chess is one of the few sports in which Vietnam competes at the world level. A number of Vietnamese names rank high in the world of chess, notably Grandmaster Le Quang Liem — in the top 20 in the world — and the Vietnam Chess team finished 10th at the 2018 Olympiad World Chess Championship where Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son won the gold medal.
