First Thai ethnic cultural festival concludes in Lai Chau

(VOVworld) – The first Thai ethnic cultural festival concluded in the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau on Sunday with a Thai art performance.

Themed “Preserving and promoting the Thai ethnic group’s cultural identity in Vietnam’s development and international integration”, the three-day festival featured the ethnic group’s traditional identity through various cultural activities and sporting events hosted by 8 provinces: Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Hoa Binh, Son La, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An. The festival included mass artistic performances, traditional costume shows, tourism and cultural products, and various folk games. Vuong Van Thanh is Vice Chairman of the Lai Chau provincial People’s Committee and Head of the organizing board: “The Thai ethnic cultural festival in Lai Chau province honors Thai culture. We’re very excited and hope that the Party, State, ministries, and industries will continue to take an interest in minority ethnic groups, including the Thai ethnic group”.
A second festival is scheduled to take place in Son La province in 2017.
