Former Thai PM named new Privy Council head

(VOVworld) – Thailand’s former Prime Minister Tanin Kraivixien has been named as acting president of its Privy Council, said Thai Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam on Wednesday.

Tanin, one of the 18 privy councilors, was appointed as the council’s head by Prem Tinsulanonda, the incumbent president who has become regent following the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej on October 13.
According to the Thai Constitution, the president of Privy Council would act as temporary regent when the throne became vacant.
