Former US Navy SEAL to pay 7 million USD for disclosing information

(VOVworld) – The US’s Fox News channel has reported that Matt Bissonnette, a former Navy SEAL who took part in highly secret operations including a raid to kill Osama bin Laden, agreed to pay the US government nearly 7 million USD for violating non-disclosure agreements and publishing without getting the document cleared by the Defense Department.

The book "No Easy Day".

Matt Bissonnette, who wrote "No Easy Day" under the pseudonym Mark Owen, will give the U.S. government all profits and royalties from the book and movie rights. The proceeds already total more than 6.6 million USD. He will have four years to pay off the debt.

Osama bin Laden, the leader of the terrorist group al- Qaeda, was killed in May 2011 in a secret US operation in Pakistan. Those who took part in the raid were not allowed to reveal anything about it.
