(VOVworld) - On Tuesday, French media gave wide coverage to President Francois Hollande’s historic visit to Cuba. The AFP news agency called Mr. Hollande’s visit a success. Hollande met with Fidel Castro, the iconic 88-year-old father of the Cuban revolution, who has not appeared in public for a long time.

The French daily newspaper Le Monde called the 50 minute - meeting between Hollande and Fidel Castro a historic moment. Le Monde quoted Hollande as saying that Mr. Fidel Castro had “a lot to say,” and demonstrated intellectual acuity and alertness.

Other French daily newspapers including Les Echos, L’Express, Le Figaro, and Le Point ran articles featuring the fruitful results of President Hollande’s visit to Cuba, saying the visit is of great historical, political, and economic importance.

Several agreements on education and training, culture, tourism, and oil and gas exploration, were signed by the two countries on this occasion. President Hollande’s visit has opened France’s access to Cuban and other Latin American and Caribbean markets.
