French Presidential Election: right-wing candidates join live TV debate

(VOVworld) – Seven right-wing presidential hopefuls, mostly from the French opposition party The Republicans (LR), began their race to the Élysée Palace with a live debate on television on Thursday. During the debate, the 7 candidates introduced to voters their campaigns and commitments for the 2017 presidential election.

A two-round primary is scheduled for November 20 and 27. The winner will move on to the general election, a two-round ballot set for April and May of next year.

The right-wing parties choose 7 candidates for the general election, 6 of them members The Republicans and one the leader of the Christian Democratic Party.
